Reducing the size of animated images

Read this if you're having problems with file size when making an animated image

LINE Ads Animated Image Specifications

  1. Media: LINE chat list

  2. Min/max seconds: 1 second/4 seconds

  3. Min/max frames: 5 frames/20 frames

  4. Min/max number of loops: 1 loop/4 loops

  5. Format: APNG

  6. APNG size: 600x400 px

  7. File size: Up to 300 KB

What if the file size is over 300 KB?

LINE Creative Lab's Animation feature optimizes files to be 300 KB or smaller to meet the specifications of LINE Ads. This is done by using basic compression and limiting the number of frames used.

If an animated image you created with CLAB exceeded the file size limit, it may be due to one of the following reasons.

Using background images

  1. Issue: Your file size may increase if you use an image as a background instead of a plain color or pattern.

  2. Solution:
     -  Ads with animated images are displayed on chat lists, so the display area is small and creative backgrounds have low visibility.
     -  Use a solid color or simple pattern as the background to emphasize only the important content.

Using high-resolution images

  1. Issue: The APNG file size may increase if the base file size of the image used for your creative is large.

  2. Solution:
     -  Try compressing the image size used in your creative and uploading it again.
     -  Use an image compression tool to easily shrink your image's file size.

Animation layer area and intensity

  1. Issues:
     -  If the layer you apply an animation to occupies a large area, the overall file size may increase.
    -   If the selected animation uses a dramatic transition, it may increase the overall file size.
  2. Solutions:
     -  Reduce the number of selected layers to see if it results in a smaller file size.
     -  Try using a less intense animation if the animation you selected uses a dramatic transition.
